All of us have a story, a background, a history. Through education, all of us have been provided with the opportunity to rise up and walk, no matter what we have done or where we have come from. At ACTS, we believe in the power of education and we seek to offer this life-changing opportunity to both children and adults, through the various programmes we offer.

I encourage you to grab the opportunity to learn, no matter what your story is or where you are in your story. The opportunity to learn might come through school or college, it might come through ACTS or elsewhere, it might come through family and friends, through a love for reading or even on the playground. Learning will change the way you live. It will change the way you look at life and the world around you.

The Founder of ACTS and my father, Dr Ken Gnanakan, passed away on 9 May 2021 at the age of 80, after having lived a full life, squeezing joy and opportunity out of every moment he lived. He was a keen learner, always trying to stay relevant. In his autobiography, “Still Learning: A Personal Story”, which was first published in 1991, just after he had turned 50, Dr Ken Gnanakan wrote, “I had been pushed down. I had picked myself up and continued running as the Lord gave new strength. And I’m still running, still trying, still learning as I head for the finish.” I saw with my own eyes that this was how he lived his life, even on the day he suddenly and unexpectedly passed away.

May we all cultivate this desire to keep learning and to keep trying, so that we, through our own God-given abilities, can rise up and walk. God bless you, dear friend.
